Overview

As an experienced chief financial officer, OptionEase co-founder, Kimberly Kovacs, recognized a need for advanced accounting tools with the enactment of the FAS 123 (R) auditing standard. The widely used method of intense and detailed spreadsheets would not be enough to track stock options or stand up to the new audit guidelines.

Kovacs quickly assembled a team with deep industry expertise in accounting, finance and Web-based software tools to develop a game-changing application for stock option accounting. Her first investor in OptionEase was the accounting firm, Kieckhafer, Schiffer and Company because it also recognized the same need for a true compliance management solution.

With the addition of a second investor, Jan Scholes, OptionEase was on its way. Scholes, wife of Myron Scholes, Nobel Prize Laureate in Economics for the invention of the Black-Scholes option price model, also understood the need for excellent compliance solutions. This led to subsequent investments by Tech Coast Angels, Pasadena Angels, GADS Option Fund and Miramar Venture Partners.

In its fifth year of operations, OptionEase is the compliance solution of choice for more than 500 companies. In addition, almost two dozen accounting, valuation and consulting firms rely on the OptionEase solution to add value for their clients and ensure they are meeting the complexities of the FAS 123 (R) rule.
